KMC urged to elect SMC president from among guardians



KATHMANDU: The Community School Management Committee Federation of Nepal has called for making arrangements to elect the School Management Committee (SMC) president from among the guardians.

The Federation asked the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Monday to annul the provision of the Ward Chair automatically becoming the president of the SMC.

Federation president Gunaraj Moktan handed over the memorandum to KMC Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol.

Moktan said they handed over the memo to the KMC, expressing objection to KMC’s decision of dissolving the SMCs.

According to Moktan, while accepting the memorandum, Deputy Mayor Dangol has given word that the KMC would hold a discussion on the issue raised by the Federation.

KMC has recently made a decision to disband the existing SMC of the community schools within the metropolis and form the SMC under the leadership of the local Ward Chair.
