SARLAHI: The Nepal Dairy Association (NDA) has discussed the matter of resolving problems caused by a lack of milk.

The central plenary of the NDA in Sarlahi district that took place yesterday discussed an array of issues of taking initiatives to meet the demand for milk in the market by supplying powder and liquid milk, removing excise duties on fresh milk, and resolving the problems being raised from the sale of ‘chhurpi’, a traditional cheese in Nepal following a price hike in milk, said the NDA Chairperson Prahlad Dahal.

It was also discussed to make the NDA province and district committees more active and let the milk collection centers continue to enjoy discounts on the electric tariffs.

“Welcoming the decision to exempt value-added tax on ‘chhurpi’ and cheese in Gandaki Province, the meeting decided to get the facility expanded to other provinces,” said the NDA general secretary Hem Chandra Khanal.

It was also decided to hold the NDA’s next meeting in Lumbini Province.

The extended meeting coincided with the dairy and agriculture equipment fair taking place in Hariwan in Madhes Province on April 25-27. On the occasion, a one-day training session was organized for office bearers of the NDA province and district committees. Trainers for the session were NDA chair Dahal and general Secretary Khanal.

The meeting was attended by NDA’s provincial chairpersons, vice chairpersons, treasurers and secretaries, and district chairpersons, said Dahal.
