Nepal beat Kuwait by 243 runs on Dev and Arjun’s century

After captain Dev Khanal and Arjun Kumal scored centuries, Nepal beat Kuwait by 243 runs in the U-19 World Cup Asia qualifiers.

While chasing the target of 344 runs given by Nepal, Kuwait has been limited to 100 runs.

President’s election: Filing of nomination papers today

Candidates vying for the post of the next President of Nepal would be filing their nomination papers today.

The election is scheduled to be held on coming March 9. Nomination papers for candidates for the post of President can be registered at the Office of the Election Officer at the federal parliament building premises in New Baneshwor from 10 am to 3 pm today, said Assistant Election Officer Amrita Kumari Sharma.

As per the legal provision, a candidate standing for the post of President will require five MPs who should propose and five others to second the candidacy.

The voting for the election of the Head of the State will take place from 10 am to 3 pm on March 9.

The President is elected by the Electoral College comprising members of the Federal Parliament (House of Representatives and the National Assembly) and the Provincial Assembly.

The total number of voters for the election of the President is 882, consisting of 332 members of the federal parliament and 550 members of the provincial assemblies of the seven provinces.

The vote weightage of the federal MP is 79 and of the provincial assembly member is 48.

A person who is a member of the Federal Parliament, who has completed 45 years of age and is not disqualified by any law can become a candidate for the post of the President.

UML’s Subas Nembang files nomination for presidential post

Vice-Chairman of the CPN (UML), Subas Chandra Nembang, has filed nomination for presidential election from the CPN (UML). The election to the post of the President is taking place on March 9.

CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli, as well as other leaders had reached the Federal Parliament Building at New Baneshwor to file the nomination.

NC senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel files nomination for President

Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Ramchandra Paudel has registered his nomination for the presidency.

NC senior leader Paudel reached the election officer’s office in Baneshwar and registered his candidacy on Saturday afternoon.

RPP ministers tender resignation to Prime Minister Dahal

After the party’s decision to quit the government, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) ministers have tendered their resignation to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Saturday.

The ministers representing RPP reached at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar to submit their resignation.
