Call for operating regional jail



JANAKI: Inmates are being compelled to face trouble due to protraction in bringing into operation two spacious jails in the district.

The jailbirds are directly bearing the brunt of the inaction of authorities in determining a process to operate large jails in Banker.

According to Prabhat Singh Thakuri, a campaigner, the inmates have passed through a tough time in the district jail while accommodating more being not sensitive to its holding capacity.

“The jailbirds are facing difficulty due to limited space in the district prison. Besides, they are not in a condition to enjoy their fundamental human rights”, he added.

It is unfortunate that the open jail which was constructed in Ganipur of Janaki six years ago has not yet been brought into operation, he commented.

Likewise, another campaigner Basanta Gautam said through the government authorities pledged to operate the regional prison without any delay, the inmates were living a complicated life in the jail due to inaction on the part of the concerned authority to operate the spacious jail.
