KAVRE: An outbreak of lumpy skin disease has caused the death of 681 animals in Kavre, as reported by the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Services Expert Center in the district.

The situation remains alarming, with a total of 30,743 animals confirmed to be infected with lumpy skin disease in the district.

Among the affected, 33,399 cows, bulls, and buffaloes have been severely impacted, as stated by the Center.

The outbreak was first suspected when a buffalo in Panauti tested positive for the disease on July 19, 2020.

Since then, the number of affected animals has risen significantly, leading to serious concerns for the local communities and their livestock.

Efforts to contain the outbreak and provide appropriate medical attention to the infected animals are underway, authorities said.
