Rabi Lamichhane demands formation of parliamentary special committee to investigate fake Bhutanese refugee scam



KATHMANDU: Parliamentarian and Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane has demanded the formation of a parliamentary special committee to investigate the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.

Speaking during today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Lamichhane said that the Parliament should form a special committee to investigate the case.

Lamichhane demanded that all those whose names were mentioned in the scam should be brought under the scope of the investigation.

It should be noted that the District Police Range, Kathmandu has submitted its investigation report against those involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam to the District Public Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.

Police have so far arrested 16 people including the former ministers and sitting government secretary on the charge of their involvement in sending people to the United States identifying them as the Bhutanese refugees. Police have suggested the Office of the Public Prosecutor to register case against additional 16 to 17 accused ones into the scam.
