NC advocates for citizen-centered budget



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has advised the government to prioritize the needs of citizens while formulating a budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

During the NC parliamentary party meeting today, the party President urged lawmakers from the party to insist on the government address the needs of citizens through the budget. “The budget capable of addressing the civic needs is necessary.”

Finance Minister and party leader Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat told the meeting that the upcoming budget would focus on coping with the adverse economic situation in the country, according to National Assembly member, Anita Devkota.

Dr. Mahat is learned to have sought submissions from the party lawmakers over the budget-making procedures.

Tomorrow’s session of the meeting will commence at 10:30 am, it is said.
