Chitwan-2: Vote counting to begin at 1 pm



KATHMANDU: An all-party meeting held in Chitwan decided to start counting votes from 1 pm today (Monday).

According to Assistant Election Officer Ishwar Acharya, the agreement to this effect was reached at a meeting held today.

Even though the ballot boxes were collected on Sunday evening, the counting of votes was stalled after the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML said that they would allow the counting of votes to begin only after the complaint filed against Rabi Lamichhane was investigated.

Nepali Congress had earlier lodged a complaint with the Election Officer’s office alleging Lamichhane for violating the election code of conduct.
