Democracy ensures rights for all: NC President Deuba



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said democracy would ensure rights for all. Issuing a statement on the occasion of the 17th Democracy Day today, he said all sides should be cautious in safeguarding democracy as it can only ensure rights for all.

“On the backup of struggle initiated since 2007 BS, the despotic monarchy was abolished and the epochal 2006 April uprising spearheaded by the NC and other political parties brought a forward-looking change in the country”, stated a release issued by President Deuba.

He also extended tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who laid down their lives in the struggle for democracy, the statement reads.

NC President Deuba urged all to promise to strengthen democracy which has been established as a heritage of courage, commitment and devotion of brave warriors.
