KATHMANDU: Deputy General Secretary of CPN-Maoist Center Janardan Sharma has said that the former alliance leaders are preparing to make Ramchandra Poudel, a senior leader of Nepali Congress, as the presidential candidate.
Speaking to news media on Friday, Deputy Secretary General of the Maoist Center Sharma revealed that four political parties of the former left-democratic alliance are planning to file the candidacy of NC leader Poudel’s name as the coalition candidate from the coalition.
“We have come close to agreement to make Poudel a presidential candidate. Now the final agreement will be reached after further discussion in the ruling coalition,” he said.
Earlier, Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center, Janata Samajbadi party and CPN-Unified Socialist party had held a meeting to discuss on the issue of presidential candidate.
The four parties have decided to hold further discussions at 5 pm.
