U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier: Nepal gives Singapore 262 runs target



KATHMANDU:  Nepal has set a target of 262 runs to Singapore in the ICC U-19 World Cup Asia Zone Qualifiers.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first at Irden Garden Oval in Ajman, UAE, Nepal scored 261 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the scheduled 50 overs.

Top-order batsman Akash Tripathi and all-rounder Bishal Bikram KC played well for Nepal. Tripathi scored 78 runs in 100 balls with 7 fours and 1 six. KC remained unbeaten on 63 off 54 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Similarly, Arjun Kumal was bowled out after scoring 37 runs in 67 balls with 3 fours, while captain Dev Khanal also got out for 21 runs in 26 balls with 1 four.

In the first match, Deepak Bohora scored 17 runs off 15 balls with 2 fours. Wicketkeeper Deepak Dumre contributed 10 runs and Milan Bohora contributed 4 runs. Subas Bhandari remained unbeaten on 12 runs.

Along with Nepal, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, UAE and Kuwait are taking part in the competition. The winner of the single round robin tournament will qualify for the 2024 U19 World Cup in Sri Lanka.
