KATHMANDU: Nepal and Singapore are competing for the Asian qualifiers of the U-19 World Cup today (Friday).
The Nepali U-19 team, which reached in the UAE on Wednesday evening, is going to face Singapore in their first match.
The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) and the National Sports Council (NSC) bid farewell to the Nepalese cricket team that will play the ICC U-19 World Cup Asia Zone qualifiers yesterday.
According to CAN, the second match will be played against Kuwait on 25th February i.e. 13th February, and one day after the match against Kuwait, the Nepali U-19 team will play against Hong Kong on 27th February i.e. 15th February.
According to CAN, the Nepali team will play against Malaysia on 28th February i.e. 16th February after taking two days rest and the last match will be played against UAE on 2nd March i.e. 18th February. UAE and Nepal are the main contenders.
The winner of that match will get a chance to play in the U-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka in 2024.
For that, the coach of the U-19 cricket team, Jagat Tamata, selected Dev Khanal as the captain only on Tuesday. Dev has been given a new responsibility as he will remain in the senior team for the next ICC Cricket World Cup League-2 series to be held in UAE under the captaincy of previous captain Gulsan Jha.
