Durga Prasai and Yuva Sangh unleashing a “show of strength” in Kathmandu amid heightened security

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML affiliated youth organization, Yuva Sangh, and activist Durga Prasai are poised for separate yet impactful “shows of strength” today in Kathmandu.

Anticipation for these demonstrations has prompted increased security measures in the capital to ensure a secure environment.

The escalating war of words between Yuva Sangh and Durga Prasai has stirred political circles, and their joint “show of strength” is expected to leave a significant imprint on daily life.

Yuwa Sangh plans a mass assembly in Tinkune, strategically covering three corners of Kathmandu, as part of a grand campaign coordinated by Prasai.

Simultaneously, Prasai is organizing a demonstration in Balkhu. While Yuwa Sangh intends to protest against prevailing lawlessness and anarchy, Prasai characterizes their movement as a free civil initiative.

Yuwa Sangh’s agenda includes a procession from Sallaghari in Bhaktapur, culminating in a meeting at Tinkune at 11 am. Prasai’s mass assembly is scheduled to start at 1 pm in Balkhu.

Given the convergence of these two demonstrations on the same day, the Valley Police Office has implemented a comprehensive security plan.

Under the leadership of DIG Lalmani Acharya, a command center has been established to prevent clashes between the two opposing groups and to ensure stringent security throughout the city.

Authorities emphasize the significance of the event and the imperative to maintain public order in light of these developments.
