Yoga exercises necessary for making life salubrious: President Paudel

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that practicing yoga is necessary for making one’s life happy.

The President said so while addressing the inaugural function of the ‘Self-awakening Campaign on Yoga and Meditation’ jointly organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Jeevan Bigyan Sanstha at the Armed Police Force Nepal’s Headquarters at local Halchok today.

“Yoga will build healthy mind and a healthy body. Yoga is needed to make life happy, keep the mind and body healthy and free oneself from stress,” the Head-of-State said, adding the main essence of yoga is to keep the mind disciplined and carry out activities in life with a neutral mind.

According to the President he could get that experience even through the practice of a bit of ‘pranayama’.

Stating that our life becomes weak and miserable when one has cravings for opulence and avarice, he stressed on the need of seeking happiness adopting the way of yoga.

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha said this programme has been initiated in line with the Ministry’s decision to conduct yoga and meditation camp.

He said thisprogram would be extended to the provinces and districts as well.

The DPM and Home Minister shared that the security bodies under the Home Ministry have given priority to yoga in order to carry out positive works and make them effective in their respective fields, in addition to their regular job of maintaining law and order and crime control.

According to him, practising of yoga and meditation is necessary even for the good governance campaign.

The yoga and meditation camp will run until 4.30 pm today.
