KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court has ruled against Balen Shah, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, in his case against the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
The court’s decision clears the way for potential actions to be taken by the Authority.
Following the Authority’s request for an explanation within a seven-day period, Mayor Balen filed a petition in the High Court, seeking to overturn the Authority’s decision.
However, the court initially declined to grant an interim order, opting for a short-term order instead. Both parties were summoned to further discuss the interim order on June 27.
In a recent development, the bench comprising High Court Judges Durga Bahadur Bishwakarma and Ramesh Dhakal has dismissed Balen’s petition against the Authority.
As a result of the writ’s dismissal, Mayor Balen is now required to respond to the Authority’s inquiry by June 16.
Failure to provide a response could lead to a fine of up to 50,000 rupees imposed by the Authority.
