One more individual arrested in Lalita Niwas land grab case



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested another individual in connection with the land grabbing case of Lalita Niwas in Baluwatar, Kathmandu.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) arrested Arun Kumar Shrestha, a former employee of the surveyor’s office, on Sunday.

Shrestha was taken into custody from his residence in Jorpati.

According to SSP Dinesh Acharya, he is suspected of being involved in the illegal transfer of government land to private individuals.

The CIB now holds a total of 19 individuals in relation to this case.

Notably, on Friday, the Supreme Court ordered the release of Krishna Bahadur Raut, Secretary of the Ministry of Communication, Information, and Technology.

Raut is currently under investigation but not detained, following a writ of imprisonment filed in the Supreme Court.

On the other hand, Min Bahadur Gurung, the owner of Bhatbhateni supermarket, former Election Commission Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Shah, and Dharma Prasad Gautam have also filed similar writs but have not been released from custody yet.
