Dr Bhattarai floats the idea of forming a govt comprising all major political parties

KATHMANDU: Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Chairman of the Nepal Samajwadi Party, has proposed the formation of a coalition government consisting of all key political parties.

He expressed his opinion on social media, stating, “Rather than wasting time on changing Prime Ministers, it would be wise to establish a government consisting of all major political parties.”

Highlighting the increasingly intricate nature and pace of Nepali politics since the last general election, Dr. Bhattarai emphasized, “Such a trajectory will not bring any benefits to the country or its people.”

Dr. Bhattarai stated that the main reasons behind this situation are the inherent instability within the existing electoral system, the short-sightedness and boundless ambitions of party leaders, the persistent visible and invisible pressures of geopolitics, and the erosion and corruption of the state’s permanent organs.

In light of these circumstances, Dr. Bhattarai raised a pertinent question, asking, “Given the current scenario, wouldn’t it be more appropriate to establish a coalition government comprising all major parties, initiate essential constitutional and legal reforms, and successfully conclude the peace process, rather than investing time in changing Prime Ministers?”

Dr. Bhattarai further emphasized that effectively navigating the intricate realm of geopolitics and addressing pressing public concerns should be the preferred course of action.

He warned, “Otherwise, time will not wait for anyone.”
