Koshi CM Karki warns of protest if province rights not granted

INARUWA: Chief Minister Kedar Karki of Koshi Province has warned of potential protests if the federal government does not grant rights as per the Constitution, allowing collaborative work among all three tiers of governance.

During the inauguration of the 400 kV substation in Sunsari’s Bhokraha, Karki urged Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to expedite the transfer of extensive constitutional rights to the provinces.

His warning signals the provincial government’s potential agitation if the central authority delays the transfer of constitutional rights to the state government.

A few weeks ago, Madhesh Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav expressed dissatisfaction with the federal government for reducing the provinces’ rights.
