KATHMANDU: A hearing is scheduled for today regarding the writ challenging the prohibitory order at Maitighar in Kathmandu.
The petition, filed in the Supreme Court, contests the decision of the Kathmandu District Administration Office to impose a prohibition order on Maitighar Mandala.
Advocate Swagat Nepal filed the writ petition on Tuesday, asserting that the order was intended to curtail the citizens’ right to assemble peacefully without arms.
The writ petition calls for the reversal of the local administration’s decision and the lifting of the prohibitory order, enabling citizens to engage in peaceful demonstrations.
Last Monday, the Kathmandu District Administration Office declared Maitighar Mandala a prohibited area for 30 days, extending from Padmodaya mode of Putlisadak in Kathmandu through the Supreme Court to New Baneshwar.
