KATHMANDU: The scheduled House of Representatives meeting at 3 o’clock today has been postponed.
CPN-UML chief whip Padam Giri conveyed that the meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday due to the Speaker and Prime Minister’s involvement in the 4 pm swearing-in ceremony of Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha.
“Tasks like finalizing the draft of the High-Level Committee investigating the gold smuggling case remain outstanding. Given the Speaker and Prime Minister’s commitment to Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha’s oath-taking, the HoR session had to be rescheduled,” Giri explained.
He noted that former Prime Minister and UML Chair KP Oli’s attendance at the swearing-in was uncertain due to health concerns.
The parliamentary session will convene on Wednesday at 3 pm.
HoR meeting has been adversely impacted by continuous obstruction from the main opposition UML since July 26.
Chief Whip Giri reported that the team assigned to draft for High-Level Committee, consisting of UML’s Subas Nembang, CPN-Maoist Center’s Hitraj Pandey, and Nepali Congress’s Ramesh Lekhak, has crafted the committee draft.
