Task force prepares draft for high-level committee to probe gold smuggling



KATHMANDU: An initial outline for a high-level committee tasked with investigating the gold smuggling case has been drafted.

The formulation of the preliminary plan for the high-level investigative committee was undertaken by a task force composed of leaders from three major political parties today.

This task force, comprised of Subash Nemwang from CPN-UML, Ramesh Lekhak from Nepali Congress, and Hitraj Pandey from the Maoist Center, has delineated the framework and purview of the proposed high-level committee aimed at delving into issues related to gold smuggling.

The drafted framework and scope of the committee will be presented to the upper echelons of the prominent political parties by the task force.

It is significant to note that a unanimous consensus was reached during a meeting among senior leaders of major political parties on Monday evening, paving the way for the establishment of this high-level committee tasked with probing the intricate matter of gold smuggling.

As of now, a total of 23 individuals have been apprehended in connection with this case.
