PM Dahal leaves for Italy

RSP Chairman Lamichhane alleges collusion in gold smuggling at TIA
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman, Rabi Lamichhane, has asserted that gold smuggling at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) cannot occur without collusion between the mechanism on duty there.
During a press interaction in Biratnagar on Sunday, Chairman Lamichhane stated, “Gold smuggling is not possible without some form of collusion.”
DPM Khadka assumes role of Acting PM as PM Dahal heads for Italy
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Purna Bahadur Khadka, has been appointed as the acting Prime Minister by President Ram Chandra Paudel.
The appointment was made on the recommendation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
According to a press release issued by the President’s Office, DPM Khadka will oversee the daily administrative affairs of the country in accordance with the Constitution during PM Dahal’s absence.
NC’s central working committee meeting to continue tomorrow
The ongoing central working committee meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) has been rescheduled to resume on July 23, due to the extensive discussions over various critical issues the country’s oldest party is currently facing.
The party’s central committee meeting commenced on July 18 and will continue this Sunday, with the CWC engaging in intense debates concerning several key matters.
These include reviewing the outcomes of the general election held in November 2022, as well as the local polls.
Three dead in road mishap
Three persons died in separate road accidents in Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts on Saturday.
According to police, two persons riding on a motorcycle (Ba 56 Pa 3452) died after a bus (Ba 3 Kha 4108) hit the motorcycle at Hattiban, Lalitpur.
The deceased are motorcyclist Jiban Tamang, 31, and pillion rider Man Bahadur Waiba, 29, from Makawanpur, Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabaraj Karki said.
