South Asian Skateboard Competition to be held from today

KATHMANDU: The 5th South Asian Skate Board Competition and Skate Jatra is being held here from today.

A total of nine teams from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Pakistan and the Maldives along with Nepal from South Asia and Myanmar and Thailand will compete in the tournament being held in Dunga Skate Park in Tilottama, Butwal.

It is being organized at the joint initiative of Nepal Skate Board, Skate Boarding Association and Skate and Nepal, said Achyut Khanal, the chair of the organizing committee.

According to the organizers, 100 players from Nepal will participate in the competition.

Eight players from each country will enter the title race from the semi-finals. The top three in both male and female categories will receive cash prizes of USD 1,000, USD 500 and USD 250 respectively.

The male and female athletes who finish in the top three positions in the competition will also get an opportunity to train at Skate Aid International in Germany.
