KATHMANDU: The International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT) is organizing the International Women Film Festival.

IAWRT is the umbrella organisation of journalist women working in the national and international radio and television media.

Festival director Sangeeta Shrestha said that the third edition of the Festival is being held on November 25 with the goal of encouraging the women film directors.

“We have capable women film directors who can promote the cinema sector worldwide through their creative output. However, the presence of women directors is not much in this sector due to the social outlook, less priority given to this sector and the lack of opportunities and motivation. Festivals like this can be useful as well as opportunity for them,” she said.

IAWRT Nepal chapter president Ichchhya Gurung said the preparations for the Festival have reached final stage.

The Festival will be organized at the meeting hall of Nepal Film Development Board. Films directed by women directors from Nepal and various other countries will be screened as part of the film festival.
Similarly, the winners of the Nepali short film competition would be awarded on the occasion.
