World Cup Qualifier: Nepal takes on Yemen today

KATHMANDU: Nepal faces Yemen today as part of the joint selection for the FIFA World Cup 2026 second round and AFC Asia Cup 2027.

The anticipated match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 pm at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar.

Nepal, placed in Group H in the second round of World Cup Asia Qualifiers, is set to confront Yemen along with formidable opponents UAE, Bahrain, and Yemen.

In their recent match held in Dubai on November 16, Nepal experienced a setback, succumbing to a 0-4 defeat against UAE.

As the teams vie for supremacy, it is noteworthy that Nepal, currently ranked 173rd in the FIFA rankings, will strive to outplay Yemen, positioned at the 156th spot.

Nepal’s journey to this stage involved overcoming Laos in the first round of the World Cup qualifiers, securing their passage to the highly competitive second round.

All eyes are on this match as Nepal aims to rebound from their previous defeat and make strides in the pursuit of World Cup qualification.
