Govt entrusts Home Minister Shrestha for talks with agitating teachers



KATHMANDU: The government has designated Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha as the lead negotiator for discussions with the protesting teachers from community schools.

Acting Prime Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka stated that Home Minister Shrestha will represent the government in negotiations with the teachers.

Khadka said that this decision was made after consultations with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, who is currently in New York.

Furthermore, Khadka said that Home Minister Shrestha initiated preliminary discussions with the striking teachers on Thursday morning and affirmed the government’s commitment to engage in ongoing dialogues to address their grievances.
