Government will get full shape after by-polls: Defense Minister

BIRENDRANAGAR: Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka has said the federal government will take full shape after the by-election on April 23.

Talking to journalists at Surkhet Airport today, Khadka said, “Appointment of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, formation of the parliamentary hearing committee and tabling of the legislation related to Constitutional Council would have been done by that time and the process for the same is underway.”

DPM Khadka asserted that Karnali Corridor would be kept as a priority in the budget for the next fiscal year.

“The country’s economy is under stress at present. But despite this, we are planning to move ahead with the Corridor project as a multi-year project including it in the national priority,” he said adding that all ministers representing Karnali in the federal government should move ahead and work on this in a priority basis.

Khadka further said the DPR of Ratna Highway has been prepared and works forwarded in that connection and the Birendranagar-Telpani-Bhurigaon road has also been kept in priority.

Stating that there is a tradition of relegating Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces on the back burner in the federal budget, the Deputy Prime Minister reiterated that now this tradition would be broken and these provinces kept in priority in the federal budget.
