Speaker Ghimire calls all party meeting before Deputy Speaker election



KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire has convened an all-party meeting for 11 am on Saturday.

The newly elected Speaker called the all party meeting before the election of the Deputy Speaker scheduled for 1 pm today.

Indira Ranamar of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has registered her candidacy for the position of Deputy Speaker on behalf of the ruling coalition.

Similarly, the largest party in the parliament Nepali Congress (NC) has fielded lawmaker Muktakumari Yadav for the post of Deputy Speaker.

NC candidate Yadav is backed by Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) and CPN-Unified Socialist Party, whereas RSP candidate Magar has the support of ruling coalition comprising CPN-UML, Maoist Center, RSP, Rastriya Prajatantra Party among others.

Pertaining to the coalition support, ruling coalition candidate Magar is most likely to get elected to the post of Deputy Speaker today.
