Hearing Committee expected to approve SC judges’ names today



KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee meeting is convening today to finalize the approval of Supreme Court judges.

The Committee meeting to be held at Singha Durbar is expected to make crucial decisions regarding the proposed judges, whose hearings were completed on Monday.

As per constitutional provisions, the President can appoint judges only after the Parliamentary Hearing Committee grants its approval.

The Judicial Council had earlier put forward the names of Saranga Subedi, Abdul Ajiz Musalman, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana, Sunil Pokharel, and Balkrishna Dhakal for consideration as judges of the Supreme Court.
