Election process for HoR Deputy Speaker begins today

Deputy Speaker to be elected on Saturday



KATHMANDU: The election process for the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) will begin today.

The nomination registration of the Speaker will be done today.

According to the schedule issued by the Federal Parliament Secretariat, nominations will be registered from 1 pm to 4 pm on Friday.

The list of candidates is expected to be issued on Friday itself.

The Deputy Speaker will be elected from the meeting of the House of Representatives on Saturday. The HoR is meeting at 1 pm on Saturday.

Candidates for the post from the ruling coalition and Nepali Congress are likely to register their names today.

It is most likely that the Deputy Speaker will be from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress, United Socialist Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, and other parties are also preparing to decide on a common candidate.

Elections were held on Thursday to elect the Speaker. CPN-UML lawmaker Devraj Ghimire, the candidate of the ruling coalition, was elected the Speaker of the HoR.
