KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued a directive to maintain Dr. Santosh Poudel in his role as the Director of Bir Hospital, overturning the prior decision by the Health Ministry to remove him from the position.
A joint bench of Justices Susmalata Mathema and Til Prasad Shrestha ordered the suspension of Health Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet’s decision to dismiss Dr. Poudel.
Dr. Poudel had previously filed a writ petition at the apex court, seeking reinstatement to his position.
With the court’s order, the path is now clear for Dr. Poudel to resume his responsibilities at Bir Hospital.
