Maoist Center and NSP forge ahead in unity talks for party merger

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai-led Nepal Samajwadi Party (NSP) have intensified discussions to merge and unite the parties.

During a meeting held on Sunday between the teams led by Krishna Bahadur Mahara, coordinator of the Maoist Center’s negotiation committee, and Ganga Narayan Shrestha, coordinator of the NSP’s negotiation committee, talks revolved around proposing the establishment of a party unity coordination committee for both entities.

The meeting also highlighted the previous activities undertaken by the negotiation committees.

Following discussions on ideological and policy matters raised by both parties, the decision was made to progress based on consensus. The plan is to proceed in accordance with agreements made by the party unity coordination committee regarding the party’s statute, name, organizational structure, election symbol, and other pertinent aspects.
