Foxtrot operation: Seven more arrested for making fake certificates

KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Police has arrested seven more people during the ‘foxtrot Charlie’ operation launched to curb the fake educational certificates holders.

According to the CIB, they were arrested for forging their educational qualification certificates for the purpose of going to study MBBS.

CIB announced the arrest of seven people on Friday night.

Among those arrested are 34-year-old Manit Chaudhary of Morang working at Anu Pharmacy Biratnagar, 34-year-old Amit Chaudhary of Bara working at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital Maharajganj, 29-year-old Erina Shah of Kathmandu who is preparing for MD studies, 33-year-old Shraddha Shilpkar of Lalitpur working at Isan Children’s Hospital Basundhara, 28-year-old Punam Thapa of Kathmandu. 32-year-old Rambabu Yadav of Siraha working at Bagmati Hospital Rautahat, and 28-year-old Nasim Akhtar of Saptari studying at Chitwan Medical College.

Bureau spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Sanjay Singh Thapa informed that those who are working and studying with less than the actual marks in educational qualification have been arrested.

Spokesman Thapa said that the seven arrested persons are being investigated after getting permission to extend their judicial remand for five days.

Earlier, Nepali Congress lawmaker Sunil Sharma was arrested to investigate on the same allegation and was released at the Kathmandu District Court’s order.

The CIB launched the ‘Foxtrot Charlie’ operation after it was found that the medical education qualifications were obtained by creating fake certificate at SLC and proficiency certificate levels.
