One dies in Karnali jeep mishap



HUMLA: One person died when a jeep going from the district headquarters Simikot to Hilsa fell into the Karnali River on Monday.

According to DSP Bhimlal Bhattarai, the jeep which was climbing uphill in Chychhara Bhir in Namkha-1, Humla fell into Karnali River from Bhir.

The police informed that the jeep which was traveling from Simikot to Hilsa at 5 am on Monday fell from the hill at around 7 am.

The driver of the vechicle, 25-year-old Rajesh Hemjang Tamang of Janakpur-2, Dhanusha got killed in the accident , however, 12 passengers who were travelling in the jeep are safe. Interestingly, the passengers had got down the jeep as the jeep could not go uphill and the driver was alone when the accident took place.

The jeep fell nearly 500 meters below the road.

District Police Office Humla’s chief DSP Bhattarai said that he sent a police team from Dharapori Police Station as soon as he got the news.
