Nepal trounce Maldives to reach semi-final of Five-nation Basketball Championship



KATHMANDU: Nepal has become victorious in its last match of the league stage under the Five-nation Men’s Basketball Championship currently underway in the Maldives.

Nepal beat hosts Maldives 75-68 points in the game held in the Maldives last night. This is Nepal’s third win.

The Nepali team conceded a defeat to Bhutan in the first match.

However, Nepal trounced Pakistan and Bangladesh in the subsequent games. Nepal is at the top of the score chart with the latest win over the Maldives and reached the semi-final of the tournament.

Nepal has collected seven points from four games. Pakistan is in second place with equal points while Bangladesh is in the third position with six points, and Bhutan is in the fourth position with equal six points.

The Maldives which has four points are relegated from the group stage. The top four teams will vie in the semi-final matches.

Five South Asian nations including Nepal are participating in the tournament.
