Lumbini Chief Minister Giri taking vote of confidence today



LUMBINI: Chief Minister of Lumbini province Leela Giri is taking a vote of confidence of the provincial assembly today (Thursday).

The ruling coalition parties hold a majority in Lumbini Province, which means that Giri is sure to pass the floor.

Giri, who represents the ruling CPN-UML party, was appointed the Chief Minister on January 11 with the support of 58 MPs.

In the Lumbini Province Assembly, 29 UML MPs, 10 Maoists, four each from Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party, three each from Janta Samajwadi Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, and Janamat Party and 2 independent MPs supported Giri to become the Chief Minister.

CM Giri has said he would expand his cabinet after taking the vote of confidence.

The Lumbini has a total of 87 MPs. Giri needs the support of 44 MPs for a majority.
