14-year-old girl raped in Siraha

SIRAHA: A disturbing incident has come to light with a complaint filed at the local police office accusing 21-year-old Rohit Das of Golbazar Municipality 4 of raping a 14-year-old girl.

The incident occurred as the victim, returning home from school, was assaulted by Das.

He then forcibly took her to Laharibari along the banks of the Gagan River, inducing fear and terror.

Concerns arose when the girl failed to return home from school, prompting relatives and family members to initiate a search.

After futile attempts, the worried family reported the disappearance to the police.

The discovery of an under-construction house in Golbazar-4 on Saturday morning marked a breakthrough in the search efforts.

Unfortunately, a formal complaint could not be lodged on Saturday, as the traumatized girl was initially unable to recount the incident to the police.

However, she eventually confided in her relatives, leading to the official registration of the complaint on Monday.

Police Inspector Sunil Karki of the Area Police Office Golbazar stated, “Yesterday, the girl did not open up to us. Today, after informing her relatives about the incident, a complaint has been registered with the police. Today, she has been sent to the provincial hospital in Siraha for a medical examination.”

The police are actively investigating the incident, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the accused perpetrator who is currently absconding.
