Prime Minister Dahal pledges strategic tourism development in Everest region

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal emphasized the pivotal role of the Khumbu region in propelling Nepal’s tourism sector, labeling the Everest region as an inexhaustible catalyst for tourism development.

During his visit to Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality, he outlined plans for a methodical approach to enhancing tourism in Khumbu while prioritizing safety and cleanliness measures for Mount Everest.

Arriving in Kalapatthar on Saturday morning, Prime Minister Dahal pledged a commitment to establish structured protocols ensuring the safety and sanitation of Mount Everest.

UML Chair Oli warns against accusations toward democratic republic

CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Oli cautioned against accusations aimed at undermining the democratic republic.

In anticipation of a November 23 demonstration under Durga Prasai’s leadership in Kathmandu, Oli emphasized a strong stance against those accusing the democratic republic. He asserted that UML would take a firm stance against such allegations.

Addressing a meeting organized by the party’s mass organization committee in Chyasal, Oli criticized the government’s handling of the country, attributing existing disorder to their governance. He highlighted the need for corrective measures during a youth/student demonstration planned for November 7.

Oli also directed the youth not to breach restricted zones during the demonstration. He criticized the government’s alleged inaction and stated that CPN-UML aimed to halt the country’s deteriorating situation.

PM Dahal is instigating turmoil in country: Dr. Shekhar Koirala

Member of the House of Representatives and Nepali Congress (NC) leader, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, lashed out at Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, accusing him of instigating turmoil in the country.

Addressing a book launch event in Biratanagar, Koirala lambasted the Prime Minister for allegedly fomenting unrest, threatening to mobilize millions onto the streets.

“Despite the nation’s collapsing economy, the Prime Minister’s threats of street protests have created fear among industrialists,” remarked the NC leader. “Approximately 35 percent of the 650,000 shutters nationwide remain shut, causing industrialists to flee, further fueling anxiety among them due to the looming specter of unrest.”

He attributed the public’s despondency to the government’s inability to curb corruption, address impunity, and uphold good governance.

Nepal deserves rights, not supplication at COP28: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said he would put forth Nepal’s views and stand on climate change impact straightforwardly in the upcoming UN climate event, COP28.

It is the 28th Conference of the Parties of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Addressing a program organized by the Nepal Mountaineering Association to hand over the peace torch at the base camp of the Sagarmatha today, PM Dahal underscored that it is time to claim rights rather than supplication.

“Nepal does not pay the price for anything it has not been involved in, so those causing carbon emission must be more responsible and compensate through the climate fund,” PM Dahal stressed, adding that in the global climate event, Nepal claims rights not mere pleas for help.

RSP’s door-to-door campaign kicks off on Saturday

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has launched a door-to-door campaign starting from today.

Spokesperson and General-Secretary of RSP, Dr Mukul Dhakal, shared that the three-day door-to-door campaign was launched so as to solicit suggestions from the public as well as to thank the voters since the last parliamentary elections in November 2022.

November 20 marks a year of parliamentary election in the country where the new party had contested and went on to become the fourth largest party in the parliament.

Women’s T20I Series: Nepal wins Japan by 67 runs

Nepal’s formidable bowling display clinched victory in the four-nation women’s T20I series in Hong Kong on Saturday.

In a decisive clash during the group stage finale, Nepal emerged victorious against Japan, triumphing by a commanding 67-run margin.

Japan, tasked with chasing Nepal’s target of 114 runs, found themselves bowled out for a mere 46 runs within the stipulated 20 overs.

Meg Ogawa contributed 17 runs for Japan, while Seika Sumi added 13, with no other batter reaching double-digit scores.

Asmina Karmacharya played a pivotal role, claiming four wickets while conceding only 10 runs in a lethal bowling spell.

Sangita Rai also showcased her bowling prowess, securing three wickets while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 5 runs in 3 overs.

Puja Mahato chipped in with 2 wickets, conceding only 2 runs in 3 overs, including one maiden.

Opting to field after winning the toss in Wang Nai, Japan, Nepal set a target of 113 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Rubina Chhetri top-scored for Nepal with 38 runs before being bowled out by Belbase.

NSP holding Central Committee meeting on Nov. 22 and 23

Nepal Samajwadi Party (NSP) led by former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai is holding its Central Committee meeting on November 22 and 23.

Party sources said that the agenda of the meeting includes deliberations on the unity proposal extended by the Maoist Center and the establishment of an integration committee for potential unification.

In addition to addressing the Maoist Center’s proposal, party leader Mahindra Rai Yadav stated that discussions will encompass NSP’s ongoing campaigns and strategies for organizational fortification.

Notably, the meeting will also deliberate on the decision to conduct a convention in the upcoming Baisakh.
