DHANGADHI: A fire, sparked by an electric short circuit, wreaked havoc in Dhangadhi, causing extensive damage to eight shops, including the Sarathi Hospital.
The inferno erupted within the premises of the food institute building in Dhangadhi’s main market late on Friday night engulfing shops and Sarathi Hospital alike.
Kailali’s Chief Superintendent of Police (SP), Devendra Pal, stated that businesses such as Sarathi Hospital, Bhandari Shoes Center, and others fell victim to the blaze triggered by an electrical short circuit.
The fire, which initially ignited at the local shoe center operated by Dal Bahadur Bhandari, was contained with the collaborative efforts of four fire engines from Dhangadhi, Godawari, and Purnawas municipalities.
A coordinated response involving the police, locals, and Nepali Army, was instrumental in suppressing the flames and preventing further escalation.
The precise details of the extent of the damage are yet to be ascertained.
