We supported NC lawmaker Kedar Karki when NC and Maoist Center did not heed our concern

BIRATNAGAR: CPN-UML Koshi province parliamentary party leader Hikmat Kumar Karki has said that his party helped make Kedar Karki the Chief Minister after the Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Center refused to cooperate.

Speaking at the Koshi Province Assembly meeting discussing the vote of confidence motion of the newly appointed Chief Minister Karki, the UML leader said that since no party has a majority in the province assembly, they (the parties) are forced to cooperate with each other, and since the NC and the Maoist Center refused to cooperate, he said that his party cooperated with a group of the Congress.

“The establishment faction of NC was not ready to cooperate with us, not ready to accept us, Maoist Center was not ready to accept us,” UML leader Karki said. “As we have openly said we are ready to help whoever comes, we supported Kedarji when he approached us.”

He claimed that UML did not make mistakes and acted according to the Constitution.

Also a former Chief Minister, Karki cautioned that it would be better not to reach Article 168 (5) of the Constitution for province government formation.
