DPM Shrestha attends BRF opening ceremony



BEIJING: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has attended the opening ceremony of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation here on Tuesday.

Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha, who is on a visit to China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart State Councilor and Minister of Public Security, Wang Xiaohong, participated in the inaugural session of the Forum, representing the Government of Nepal.

President Xi Jinping made a keynote address in the inauguration ceremony held in the Chinese capital.

Addressing the Forum, the Chinese President said programs under the Belt and Road Initiative have made a great deal of progress since 10 years.

The Heads of State and Government from various countries, including President Xi addressed to the Forum. China has welcomed the delegates from more than 130 countries to the Forum, it is said.

Together with DPM Shrestha, Ambassador of Nepal to China Bishnu Pukar Shrestha is also participating on the event. DPM is scheduled to address the high-level forum on green development entitled ‘Green Silk Road for Harmony with Nature’ being held at the National Convention Center today.
