Prohibitory orders imposed for two months outside Koshi CM’s Office in Biratnagar

BIRATNAGAR: The local administration in Biratnagar has issued prohibitory orders in some places, including the Koshi Chief Minister’s Office and the Province Assembly building, in response to various organizations dissatisfied with the province’s name, planning to protest in the city.

Chief District Officer of Morang, Birendra Kumar Yadav, announced the two-month prohibitory order, effective as of 6 am today.

The prohibitory orders extend to areas within a 300-meter radius of the Office of the Province Chief, Chief Minister’s Office, and other designated locations.

These orders come as various groups have recently been organizing protests, sit-ins, and processions in Biratnagar.

The local administration, in accordance with section 6(3a) of the Local Administration Act 2028, has banned all forms of protests, including meetings, processions, gatherings, rallies, and sit-ins within the restricted area, while allowing for regular public and vehicular movement.
