Hospitals instructed to conduct fever clinic

KATHMANDU: The Epidemiology and Communicable Disease Control Division of the Ministry of Health and Population has instructed the federal hospitals and the Institute of Health Sciences to conduct fever clinics as needed, considering a surge in the number of daily dengue infections.

Director of the Division, Dr Rudra Prasad Marasini, said that a fever clinic should be conducted for fever screening based on the prevalence of dengue disease.

Dengue infection has been seen in 14,357 people so far, with the infection spread in 75 districts of the country.

So far 10 people have died due to the infection. The hospitals have also been directed to ensure correct diagnosis and treatment of dengue disease.

“Hospitals and medical institutions under the Federal government have been instructed to work on dengue disease prevention, control and treatment according to the management guidelines”, he said.

The Division has said that dengue infections are likely to increase in the months of August and September.

The Ministry has requested all to sleep with mosquito nets, wear long-sleeved clothes when outside, and to put nets on the windows and doors of the house to prevent mosquitoes.

Furthermore, people have been urged to destroy places that help the mosquitoes breed and grow.
