KATHMANDU: Nepal is playing home team Zimbabwe in the first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier starting today in Zimbabwe.

The match between Zimbabwe and Nepal in Group A will be held at the Harare Sports Club. The game will start at 1:50 pm according to Nepali time.

Nepal is playing a one-day international (ODI) match against a Test-recognised team for the first time.

Earlier, Nepal played against Zimbabwe in World Cup Qualifier held in Zimbabwe in 2018 as well.

However, since Nepal’s ODI was not recognized at that time, that match was also not recognized as an ODI.

After receiving ODI recognition in 2018, Nepal played 51 ODIs and five years later, it is playing World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe.

Nepal will also play for the first time against the former world champion West Indies along with Zimbabwe in the group stage.

Nepal is aiming to reach Super Six this time.

Nepal will play against the USA on June 20, West Indies on June 22 and the Netherlands on June 24.

The top three teams from the group will enter the Super Six.

Similarly, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Scotland, Oman and the UAE are in Group B.

Nepal squad: Rohit Paudel (C), Kushal Bhurtel, Asif Sheikh, Gyanendra Malla, Aarif Sheikh, Kushal Malla, Dipendra Singh Airee, Gulshan Jha, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane, Bhim Sarki, Pratish GC, Lalit Rabanshi, Arjun Saud, Kishore Mahato.
