Safety concern on thriving IT use: Minister Sharma



DANG: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, has said feeble laws on cyber security have posed privacy threats to citizens and the government.

Minister Sharma viewed security as a major concern at present in the wake of thriving IT use.

She stated that the government was making preparation to bring laws on cyber security.

The misuse of IT especially by children and teenagers has resulted in a host of problems, she said, adding that utmost public awareness of the use of social networking sites is necessary.

She also said that Nepal Telecom had conducted a study on the status of communications in Dang district.

The Minister however said everyone has to have access to IT. The government is moving ahead as per the need assessment.

According to her, the use of IT could be expanded for income generation.
