World Conference of Non-Resident Nepalis commences today

KATHMANDU: The World Conference of Non-Resident Nepalis (NRN) is commencing today (Tuesday).

According to the NRNA spokesperson, Som Sapkota, the conference will revolve around the central theme of “For Nepali By Nepali” and will emphasize knowledge as the foundation for transformation and prosperity.

The inauguration ceremony will be graced by President Ram Chandra Paudel, followed by various events including the World Knowledge Conference, Youth Conference, and Women’s Conference.

A dedicated session is planned to engage with the government and stakeholders on Foreign Employment, Social Security Fund, Citizenship Act, and Voting Rights.

The event will also witness the election program for the new leadership of the association on October 19, culminating with the 11th International Convention of the Association, to be concluded by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

In the latest developments, Dr. Badri KC from Russia is in the running for the presidency of the Non-Resident Nepali Association NRN, alongside other candidates including Mahesh Kumar Shrestha from Japan, Raveena Thapa from America, and RK (Rajendra Kumar) Sharma from Qatar, all expressing their aspirations.

In an early morning development on Tuesday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is scheduled to confer the first non-resident Nepalese citizenship.

The first non-resident Nepali citizenship is set to be granted to Kul Acharya, the president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association.
