Former Agriculture Minister of Lumbini Province Yadav arrested for banking offense

BUTWAL: Former Agriculture Minister of Lumbini Province, Vijay Yadav, was arrested for a banking offense.

Yadav, who had previously served as the Minister of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperative, was taken into custody due to a case registered against him for a bank cheque bounce at the Bank of Kathmandu.

The incident involving the bounced cheque in the name of Uma Shankar Yadav occurred on January 24.

Following the registration of the case, an arrest warrant was issued against Yadav.

On Sunday, the police apprehended him, according to Rupandehi Police Spokesman and DSP Shyamu Aryal.

Yadav was elected from Banke Province Assembly Constituency 2 ‘1’ to the Lumbini State Assembly in 2074 BS.

At that time, he was affiliated with the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP).

However, he faced disciplinary action from the JSP for going against the party’s instructions by participating in the government.

Subsequently, he switched his allegiance and joined the CPN-UML.
