Locals of Sisdol, Bancharedanda stop trucks carrying garbage from Kathmandu

NUWAKOT: Locals of Sisdol and Bancharedanda, located in Nuwakot district, have taken action to prevent tippers from transporting garbage from Kathmandu through their areas.

People’s representatives from Kakani Rural Municipality, Dhunibensi Municipality, along with local residents, blocked the tippers carrying garbage at Aletar, a location at the border of Dhading and Nuwakot districts.

Ghananath Bajgai, the ward chairman of Kakani Rural Municipality-3, expressed concern over the unbearable stench of the dumped garbage, which is making it difficult for people living around Sisdole and Bancharedanda to breathe.

Dhunibensi Mayor Bal Krishna Acharya stated that the locals had no choice but to obstruct the trucks carrying garbage since their previous appeals and demands went unnoticed.

To address the mounting garbage issue, the Kakani Rural Municipality of Nuwakot has also taken action by implementing a charge of Rs 1,500 for each truck transporting garbage.
