Former mayor of Chapakot killed in car accident



WALING: Shiva Giri, the former mayor of Chapakot municipality of Syangja, died in a car accident.

Spokesperson of District Police Office Syangja, Rabindra Khanal, stated that Giri died when a Scorpio jeep (Ba 155 Cha 1709) went out of control and crashed last night.

Police said that 60-year-old Giri, a resident of Chapakot-4 Darsing, was declared dead by District Hospital Syangja at 11:40 pm.

The jeep traveling from Rangkhola to Syangja met with an accident on Siddhartha Highway at Putalibazar-10.

Police have taken driver Suraj Nepali into custody.
