Ram Sahaya Yadav elected Nepal’s new Vice President



KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) leader and vice-presidential candidate from the ruling alliance Ram Sahaya Yadav has been elected as the new Vice President of the country.

Yadav received 30 thousand 328 votes in the election held at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor on Friday.

CPN-UML vice chairman and vice presidential candidate Ashta Lakshmi Shakya got 16 thousand 328 votes.

Similarly, Mamata Jha of the Janamat Party received a total of 2,537 votes.

Pramila Kumari Yadav, who was made a proxy candidate from JSP, got one vote for the province assembly. Although she withdrew her candidacy through a public statement, her name was still there on the candidate list.

311 federal parliament lawmakers and 518 province assembly members voted in the election that took place from 10 am to 3 pm today.
